Chris Hobson, Director of Policy and External Affairs at East Midlands Chamber

Chris is responsible for all work areas relating to the development of Chamber policy and lobbying activity. Recent projects he has led on include the Local Skills Improvement Plan for Leicester and Leicestershire along with what Levelling Up can mean for the East Midlands.

Gosia Khrais, BSc (Hons) PGDip CQI, Commercial Director, Charnwood Campus

Harvard trained business developer, commercial negotiator of complex transactions, an executive with strong acumen in life sciences sector (biopharma/medical devices - commercials, regulatory and legal), currently Commercial Director driving the development of the Charnwood Campus Science, Innovation and Technology Park from its inception, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the PCM Loughborough, member of a number of regional life science organisations passionate about making a difference through innovation, access to finance, commercialisation, knowledge transfer. Experienced property investor able to handle a variety of regenerative projects.

Stefan Ogrodzinski, CEO, BioStatus Group

Stefan is an experienced CEO and Board Director with a 25-year career spanning the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, voluntary and educational sectors. He currently leads four BioStatus Group companies in the UK and Poland and is an active entrepreneur in the Life Sciences sector, having founded and lead a number of successful private companies in the UK. Skilled in start-up formation, IPR positioning, small business growth and Corporate Governance, Stefan is committed to nurturing life science innovation and supporting young entrepreneurs in their business journeys. He sits on the advisory panel for the Centre for Doctoral Training in Targeted Therapeutics and Formulation Science at Nottingham University and has been actively engaged in supporting postgraduate science education over the last decade.

Dr Faz Chowdhury, founder, CEO and chair of Nemaura Pharma Ltd., and Nemaura Medical Inc., (Nasdaq: NMRD)

Faz has over 20 years experience in the Pharmaceutical and Medical devices industry, taking products from concept to commercial launch. He is sole inventor on more than 100 granted and pending patents across over 15 technology platforms within the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors and has authored Textbook Chapters on Nano-biosciences for Wiley and Elsevier. He holds a Masters in Microsystems and Nanotechnology from Cranfield University, UK, and Doctorate from the University of Oxford on nano-medicine and drug delivery.

Helen Compton, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Innovations Directorate NIHR Central Commissioning Facility (CCF)

Helen joined the NIHR in 2016 to lead on stakeholder engagement activity with the charity and medtech communities and provide leadership and delivery for a number of high profile strategic and operational projects across NIHR. Helen has led business/ governance changes at the science-policy interface with > 9 years research programmes commissioning experience. She developed applied research programmes from end to end to address pressing government and industry needs and has extensive experience working across government departments. Helen has developed the evidence supporting a number of national strategies and presented evidence-based findings at all organisational levels and internationally through the OECD.

Malcolm Youll, Managing Director of Weiss Technik (UK) Ltd

Malcom has 30 years of global roles within engineering and services businesses, 5 years with Weiss Technik based in Loughborough. An Entrepreneurial leader with a solid track record of strategic growth generation worldwide. Experienced in driving cultural change, and inspiring teams to achieve, including significant acquisition integration and business transformation.

Graeme Cameron, CEO, Pennine Healthcare

Graeme is CEO of Pennine Healthcare a UK based manufacturer and distributor of medical devices critical to the protection and improvement of life. Graeme took up this role at the transition stage in Pennine Healthcare becoming Employee Owned.  Previous to Pennine Healthcare Graeme was Managing Director of B Braun Avitum and was Head of the B Braun Hospital Care Division & Veterinary Division. His function incorporated sales, marketing, manufacturing and operations. Alongside this role Graeme was part of the B. Braun UK Group Board, Executive Committee and Global Network Teams. Outside of Pennine Healthcare, Graeme Chair’s the Association of British Healthcare Industry Commercial Policy Group which has a focus on realising value based procurement within the NHS so that technology and innovation can drive improved patient outcomes. Graeme also Chair’s the Advisory Panel of the Derby County Community Trust SCORE programme supporting young people into careers within Health and Social Care.

Tim Robinson, Commercial Director, East Midlands Academic Health Science Network

Tim is an experienced senior executive with in-depth understanding of UK healthcare and the NHS, with a proven track record of managing complex relationships, to win business and deliver positive results. Tim is the strategic lead for our work on industry and enterprise and has responsibility for EMAHSN commercial. 

Julian Patel, Commercial Manager, East Midlands Academic Health Science Network

Julian manages and develops our industry engagement and provides advice to partners across sectors on commercialisation, NHS partnerships and innovations. He has a wealth of experience working as a Board Director of a successful SME. He also has valuable experience of selling into and partnering with large corporate governments, public sector and importantly the NHS/healthcare environment.
