This seminar will explain the different types of social engineering attacks that people may see or experience. These include various types of email, voice and SMS text phishing, software based attacks such as ransomware and physical and psychological attacks.
It will explore why we as humans are vulnerable to these attacks. Psychologists have shown that we are inherently trusting which is why the psychological manipulation is so effective.
We will then explain some strategies for mitigating these types of attacks.
Finally we will gaze into the crystal ball and suggest some future trends in social engineering – both attacks and defence.
